European Heritage Open Days 2019


September 14 and 15, 2019 are designated European Heritage Open Days and this year Newry and Mourne Museum has organised different activities for each of the days.

On Saturday 14, at 11.30am and again at 2.30pm Tracey Jeffery from NI Food Tours will visit the Museum for a demonstration of bread making (with sampling of course). Tracey specialises in traditional bread making including soda, wheaten bread and potato bread. She will demonstrate how to make all of these plus the various alternative ingredients you can use instead. Admission is free.

On Sunday 15, at 2pm and again at 3pm there will be free tours of the Museum. You will be guided through the galleries and displays that highlight the history of this unique region. Also, on display will be the new temporary exhibition “War Declared: the local impact of World War II”.
